Local officials join national research group in review of road & bridge conditions, congestion, safety

WHAT:
The proposed extensions of the Mon-Fayette Expressway and the Martin Luther King Jr. Busway East (E/BEE) will play a critical role in enhancing economic development and job growth in the Mon Valley by improving transportation access in the region, creating jobs during the construction of the extensions, and long-term jobs in the region, according to a new report released today by TRIP, a Washington, DC based national transportation organization.
The TRIP report calculates the number of jobs created by the project over the four-year construction period as well as the long-term jobs resulting from increased highway access. It also details travel time improvements along several routes in the Pittsburgh area as a result of completion of the E/BEE. Local elected officials, transportation and economic leaders will join TRIP on Tuesday to discuss the findings of the report.
